Chris wanted the "Fundulopanchax oeseri" at the CKCO. So when he got home he put them in his 20gal long planted tank it has a cover but not very tight. After a week or two the male jumped out and Chris was sad but Paul and Deb provided a replacement.
The male is waiting to get into the 20gal but in the meantime fry have appeared in the 20gal tank ~12. The water is Phoenix tap which is very hard. Chris had Killifish fry and did even know it. He was shocked when I showed them to him. Do these usually breed in hard water?

Fundulopanchax, in general, are more adaptable to our water conditions than Aphyosemions, even though both come from similar habitats. My experience with Fundulopanchax oeseri is that they can be bred in Phoenix water without much trouble. I believe Paul and Deb Heidrich use softer water in order to obtain greater numbers. This is a particularly gorgeous killie and is also a core species for the Killifish Conservation Committee. Tell Chris to keep up the good work!
